At Connect the Dots, we believe strongly in networking with and supporting small business – and even better when it can be with fellow female-owned businesses!  At Connect the Dots, we are a proud team of women and it has been our privilege to be a member of WBEC-West (Women Business Enterprises).  We always love attending their events and this year’s WBEC-West 16th Annual Strategic Procurement Opportunity Conference did not disappoint!

2019 WBEC Conference Highlights

WBE prioritizes the cultivation of sustainable relationships between certified Women Business Enterprises and Corporate America through certification, education, and targeted networking.  The WBEC-West 16th Annual Strategic Procurement Opportunity Conference’s theme was “Learn How to Uncover the Clues to Success” and was a 3-day event that fostered sustainable relationships through a myriad of networking opportunities including symposiums, luncheons, matchmaker opportunities, strategic mini-connections, and round table meetings with corporate partners, primes. Government agencies, and fellow WBEs.  It was a great event that really encouraged meaningful, industry-specific opportunities within each business’ target markets.

WBEC 15th Annual Strategic Procurement Opportunity Conference

WBEC 15th Annual Strategic Procurement Opportunity Conference LikeThe WBEC West Annual Strategic Procurement Opportunity Conference is always a favorite event to attend of ours at Connect the Dots Promotions.  The 2018 event was the 15th Annual Conference and it did not disappoint, but first, a little background.  The WBEC 15th Annual Strategic Procurement Opportunity Conference is designed to provide attendees with ‘the resources needed to build sustainable relationships with procurement and supplier diversity professionals in order to grow your business to the next level of success.’

What was the WBEC 15th Annual Strategic Procurement Opportunity Conference Like?

Once you sat down at the table there was everything needed for a delicious meal.  Each table had to nominate a chef and a sous chef and then the table worked together to make three different pasta dishes.  Not only did we have a blast at our own table but it was fun to see what others came up with at their tables and just how creative everyone was!  We loved this idea and think it would be a great option for corporate outings to build community and foster teamwork.

What We Learned at the WBEC West Conference

WBEC 15th Annual Strategic Procurement Opportunity Conference LikeWe had opportunities to attend workshops on how to stand out with corporations.  We also attended a fashion show with other WBE’s.  On the last day of the conference, we had one-on-one meetings with corporates.  We hope that our impression was positive and look forward to seeing what opportunities may come from these more intimate one-on-one meetings.

Final Thoughts on the WBEC 15th Annual Strategic Procurement Opportunity Conference

As always, the 2018 WBEC-West Conference was fun, informative, and full of opportunities to grow your business.  We love seeing other women do what they do best, learn from their experiences and knowledge, and encourage each other on the path to growing our businesses. All-in-all, Connect the Dots Promotions was there to connect to with other WBEs (Women Business Enterprises and to do what we love – grow our network and CONNECT THE DOTS!

Connect the Dots Company Update – Karie Attends WBEC West

Connect the Dots Attends WBEC West

WBEC WESTIt has been an exciting few months (and year!) at Connect the Dots. Karie Cowden recently returned from WBEC West. WBEC has a vision to build, foster and develop competitive Women Business Enterprises. They also have a mission to create a network of informed, prepared, and engaged Women Business Enterprises. They do this through education, certifications, and targeted networking events. WBEC-West is a regional partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). They are an important facilitator of connections for women in business that help businesses realize their business potential. And, they provide unique and exciting enterprise networking and development opportunities.

WBEC West Networking and Education

WBEC West recently had their event at the Harrah’s Casino of Southern California in Rincon, CA. Karie met with 5 women-owned companies (WBE’s or Women Business Enterprises) to work together on projects and utilize the services that they provide. Additionally, Karie now has the privilege of serving on the Form for WBEC West for a 3 year term.  She will also be serving as an ambassador for other WBE’s that are newly certified. The WBEC West event was a great time to make connections, support other WBE’s, and get important education that will help Connect the Dots continue to flourish and thrive. One education opportunity that Karie took part in was a construction track.  This provided specialized education about the construction niche. The class on union vs. non-union shops was particularly interesting and informative.

WBEC Supplier of the Year

WBEC WESTIn addition to networking and education, Karie had the privilege of being nominated for Supplier of the Year for WBEC West. The event examined the delicate art of walking the tightrope of success. Although Karie did not win, she noted that it was an honor to be nominated. Karie also had the thrilling opportunity to present Connect the Dots to a group of 80 different contacts from different corporations.

At Connect the Dots, we prioritize continuing education and networking, particularly for women in business. It is a great way to expand business and growth while support other WBE’s. The WBEC West conference was an educational and exciting event and Karie Cowden looks forward to her continuing work with the organization. We will be sharing our new education and insight this fall with our clients.  Additionally, we are proud to supply clients with new, effective promotional products for the holiday season and 2018!
